Ripples of Thought: A Multifunctional Office Space

Blurring the Line Between Space and Functionality

The Ripples of Thought office design is a spatial masterpiece, utilizing the most simple and unaffected materials such as cement and wood. This infusion of plain and simple materials creates an ethos that reminds designers that simplicity is usually persuasive and impressive. The use of craft glass adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the space.

The office space covers an area of 400 square meters and is designed to blur the line between different areas. The reception area, for example, serves multiple functions including reception, communication, meetings, and training. This flexibility provides different possibilities for users and encourages collaboration and creativity.

One of the standout features of the Ripples of Thought design is the open revolving door in the negotiation area. This unique feature not only adds a touch of modernity but also provides better ventilation for the room, contributing to energy-saving efforts.

The design team, led by Huang Huajun, Zhang Jinwei, Huang Fan, Xu Xiaofan, and Huang Fajun, aimed to create a space that instills a sense of security and affiliation for each and every staff member. The use of plain concrete dwarf walls and small droplights visually arranges the office functions and aisles, while the bookshelf gallery adds a touch of warmth and familiarity.

The Ripples of Thought office design project started in June 2016 and was completed in March 2017 in Kunming, China. Throughout the design process, the team faced challenges such as creating a pleasant and multi-functional space for an architectural design company and expressing emotions in the simplest way possible.

The Ripples of Thought office design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2018. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Ripples of Thought design stands out for its strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
